AYRSHIRE BREEDERS.
MEETING IN NEW PLYMOUTH. A meeting of the Taranaki Ayrshire Gattle Cd'iilb was held in New Plymouth last Thursday. Mr. W. H. Field presided amid Mr. T. Webb, treasurer of the New Zealand Ayrshire Breeders’ Association wlais also present. . . Rules were adopted land provision wais made for the election of 'active honorary ■:a nd life members. The objects of the ouih are to promote' the breeding oif .Ayrshire cattle; to .assist the New Zealand Ayrshire Cattle Breeders’ Association ;■ to co-operate and assist institutions (holding cattle Shows. Mr. H. H. o<l son was elected vibepresident and the committee w'ais empowered to* fill the vacancy thus created on the committee. Mr. R. W. D. Robertson, wias deputed to represent the club at the annual meeting oif the New Zealand Ayrshire Cattle Breeders’ Association. A discussion, ensued with reference to itatari earmarking, 'and it was stated that a 111 b reeders tin. this di strict, .had adopted, the practice. There wa.s also ai discussion with reference to >semi.-final, testing. and the meeting decided to forward h recommendation to the parent body to the effect that i.t contribute £5 towards the dost o.f testing first cow naJlihcr than, grant a subsidy on the butter-fat produced as a.t present.
