INDIANS DEFEAT WELLINGTON
BY EIGHT GOALS TO THREE. A HUGE ATTENDANCE. (ni TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, June 3. A magnificent exhibition of hockey was given at the Basin Reserve this afternoon, when, in perfect weather, and before an attendance estimated at between twelve and fifteen thousand spectators, the victorious Indian Army team defeated the Wellington representative team by eight goals to three. The pace was exhilarating throughout, and, despite the difference in the scores, the play was full of interest, the brilliant work by the Wellington halves nullifying the visitors’ combinations to a great extent.
