The Mayor has notified the citizens tout owing to phenoininal landslips <ait Niilmtupu and on the Wiaitakeii ranges, both gravitation mains have been carried away and the water supply to the city is almost entirely cut oft. It imperative that the consumption of should he cut down, by at least one third. All hydraulic lifts, baths, lavatories, water for building purposes and other extraneous consumption must cea.se until the normal supply is restored. No time is being lost in effecting repairs to both pipes and maintaining a limited supply for essential domestic purposes, Sunbian bodies using tiie city water supply have been asked to adopt similar measures. AUCKLAND, May 21. Tb-diay water was being carted to the hospital in tanks and in some suburbs lorries carted water to residents. One Tree Hill district is connected with the Onehunga water supply, which ig from never tailing springs.
