The Eltliam Progress Committee met on Wednesday night. Those present were: Air. i. J. Bridget- (chair.), E. Clare, R. Walsh, Al. Henrickson, AY. Rickets, ami the secretary (Mr. \V S. Prosser). Air. R. Payne wrote resigning his scat on the committee on account of his leaving the district. The resignation was received with regret. ,

The chairman said that Air. Payne had been associated with the committee for a- number- of years and had acted as chairman for a term. Ho had done good work and the town could i'll afford to lose the services of such men LADIES’ REST ROOM. - The chairman- mentioned that the ladies’ rest room was n-ot in a very creditable state owing to the furniture becoming worn and dilapidated, , As the corn ill it tee had originally equipped the room and there did not appear to tie anyone else who would undertake the responsibility, of caring for it, the committee must now decide whether to' refurnish or close the room. .Members agreed that it would be unfortunate to have to close the room, and it was eventually decided to purchase a quantity of new furniture and otherwise make the place a little more in keeping with the mime.

'lbe matter was left in the hands of the ehairman and Air.- Clare, with power to act. CHILDREN’S PARK SCHEME.

Mr, Clare asked what, was being done to complete the scheme previously decided u lion. The chairman replied that when the soldiers memorial appeal was started it was deemed advisable to allow the park scheme to stand over until the memorial was completed. There was about C9O in band for the .scheme and as the memorial gates were now almost completed, it would he possible to get mi with the children’s park scheme in the near future. It was eventually decided to leave the matter of an appeal until after the winter.

It was decided to get prices for repainting and signwriting the sign hoards which the r-mintv erected some

years ago. Accounts amounting to £l3 10s were passed for payment.
