A remarkable feature of Saturday’s Morphetville meeting was that race records were established in five out of seven events. The time in the Totalisator Handicap also equalled the State record. HID BEHIND HEDGE. HOBART, May 18. At the Hobart Turf Club meeting, J Ashwood, rider of Isabella in the Trotting Plate, was brought before the stewards on an allegation that he pulled his mount up shortly after the commencement of the race, which was run in semi-darkness, and waited behind a hedge two furlongs from home, •mkl joined in the race again when, the horses came round for the last time. He ran third. Both rider and horse were disqualified for a year.
