FARMERS’ UNION SOCIAL v
(From Our Own Correspondent.) \ The grand social held last night by •the Awatuna-Te Kiri branch of the Farmers’ Union was in every way a * great : success. The hall was well filled by a gathering of settlers from the surrounding districts, and an enjoyable time was spent. The ; floor *was in good order, and excellent music was provided by the Opunake Jazz Orchestra. The M’s.C. were Messrs H. Davison and N. McKinnon. Extras were played by Miss Marshall, Miss Sanson and Mr Maindonald. The arrangements made by the hon. secretary (Mr F. L. Street) and committee left- little to be desired. The ladies provided a very nice supper. During the evening songs were sung by Mr F. Maindonald, and were much appreciated. PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. The prizes won at the recent cattle show were presented to the winners, the occasion being one that was greeted with much enthusiasm.. The list was as below : Aged bulls, F. Silson 1, W. Coxhead 2; two-year bulbs, H. Phillips 1, T. Maimloniahd 2; aged cows, H. Korte 1, F. Silson 2; two-year-old heifers, Miss D. Corbett-1, R. Alty 2; 18 months heifers, H. Corbett 1, P. Street 2.
