The annual meeting of Hie Wiaverley Patriotic League was held on Tuesday. About twelve members were present., and Mr. A. El. Syimes wlas -in tilie chair. The 'annual report stated, that applications for relief had not ibeen so numerous as in the past, hut £l3B haci been granted to meet necessitous,cases, lhe total' of the fund now stood at £3233 8s 6d, miade up as follows: War bonds £2OOO, loans £52, savings bank£s3+ 14s fid, fixed deposit £6OO, current 'account £43 14s. Mr. Symes, in moving the adoption of the report, thanked the committee for its whole-hearted co-operation during the past year. He considered that it rejected icvedikiahiy on the calibre of tbo returned men of the district tlra.i such a small percentage of relief money had ibeen paid out-. FOOTBALL. J The Rugby season opens on Saturday next, May 1, with ia- match against Hiavvera juniors' on the local recreation grounds. The team will 'practise tonight at 7.30 o’clock.
