In -the Assembly, when the defence vote was under consideration, Colonel the Hon. F. H. P. Ores well, Minister of Finance, outlined the proposed changes in the defence forec. which aimed at -an air force which could strike anywhere practically at any enemy gathering wi-th-in the Union, and in addition, the certainty of mobilising 10,000 men to concentrate within 72 to 96 hours within a me-a-s ura-b-le distance of the enemy, with an additional 15,000 men equipped and able to take to the field. The conception of -the active citizen force units not being -suited to the country, districts, there-will be -a development of the command system, in those districts'! in direction o-f more regimented and more disciplined organisations.—Reuter.
