LATE SPORTING.
TRAINING WORK AT HASTINGS
(BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) HASTINGS, April 28. Training operations were carried out under ideal conditions on the Hastings tracks this morning. The course proper is being watered and will he in good condition for Friday. Hiwinui and Peneus were the only horses to work before breakfast, the former doing a round on the course proper, while Peneus was restricted to slow work on the plough. After breakfast Grand Knight, with R. J. Mackie in the saddle, went once round at half-pace, and continued for another circuit at increased pace, running the last six furlongs in 1.20. Kaahumanu worked on the course proper outside of the trestles, going two rounds at a good three-quarter pace. Killoch did a solid two circuits on the course proper. . I Suspicion, who looks in great heart, went once round over three flights of hurdles, jumping well. Olympic, Royal Diadem, and Hiuekapua were companions over a mile on the plough, Olympic finishing just in front of Royal Diadem in 1.44. Automne went a couple of circuits on the plough at three-quarter pace, and Roacl Hog did similar work. Hillation and Little River worked together, doing a couple of rounds at half-pace Landbird. which is in great heart, was sent a couple of circuits at a good pace. Coot a opeared to be -sore, and was restricted" to trotting only once round. Royal Damon, with Mountain Star as a' companion, did six furlongs in 1.18 2-5, Royal Damon finishing well in front.
Hulcuwai did two circuits at halfpace. Haurangi went once round at a fast pace, nulling hard all the way. Civilform went once round at threequarter pace. Toa Taua trotted a couple of circuits and later went once round at top. Polyastra (Green) went once round over the pony hurdles. His . display was not very' impressive, hitting two fences hard. Goshawk did a couple of circuits.
The best gallop of the morning ivas bv Glentruin, which hopped off at the six furlongs, doing the distance >n 1.15 4-5. , „ . Malatour went twice round, finishing up the last five furlongs at a .fairly fast pace. He appeared sore on returning. Gaze and Perl© de Leon did a fast two rounds, finishing together.. Egyptian Flower was restricted to slow work on the plough. Vivo went a couple of rounds at three-quarter pace. A fair number of . horses were out doing walking exercise only, and a number of two-year-olds were given barrier practice.
