BOXING.
NEW CON'I'ROLLING BODY PRO POSED.
(BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, April, 22. A meeting was held last night, convened by Mr. J. J, Heselhurat, member of the (JlhristehuiTih organisation which aims at the establishment of a. Dominion .association to control amateur boxing in Auckland. Amateur enthusiasts agreed that the salvation of amateurism lay in the-reformat ion of the existing body rather than the formation of a new organisation. It was suggested that membership of the associations should be unrestricted and without the present ringside privilege, also the promotion of professional bouts should be restricted to one to twelve amateur contests. It would be time enough ito stailti a new body when enforced reformation by the Minister or the establishment of a commission of inquiry had failed. DEMPSEY AND' TUNINEY. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. NEW YORK, April 21. Dempsey will probably fight Gene Tunney in September for the world’s heavy-weight championship.
