(Prom Our Own Correspondent.) The annual general meeting of the Biverlea Hall Society was held i,n the Biverlea Hall on Tuesday evening, ■when there was, a fair attendance, Mr W. Hey, president, occupying the chair. In presenting the annual report, the president congratulated the members of the society on the very successful year just passed. Commencing the year with an overdraft at the bank qf £4(5 17s- 4d, they had closed it with a credit balance of £S 5s fid, and tlie net credit, balance on the year’s working was no less than £sl Is 2d. Sundry other items totalled £lO ]ss 7d, of which £3 18s was timber for the ceiling of the kitchen, which work the members had carried out one evening. One reason for the good position attained was undoubtedly the cinematograph entertainments, which, after paying expenses, left the society a credit balance of £ls ss, and which should receive continued support. Ar-' rangements had been made- to hold dances during the winter months', and Boulton’s music had been engaged for these. In concluding,-the chairman expressed his thanks to the members of the committee for their support and interest during the year, and trusted that the same enthusiasm and interest would be displayed during the coming year. He also- desired especially to thank the ladies of the district for their very loyal support to tlie society and the great assistance they bad given, and proposed that a hearty vote of thanks be passed them for that help. The motion was carried- by acclamation, the secretary and several other members also expressing their appreciation of the help given by the ladies. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr W. E. Hey (re-elected) ; vice-president, Mr J. Gibson (re-elect-ed); secretary and treasurer, Mr Al. F. Voullaire (re-elected); auditor. Air Coleman; committee, Alessrs B. L. Webby, H. Hooper. J. A. Svmes, H. F. Johns, J. Gibson. A. Gibson, E. Hooper, K. Rothe, F. Schmidt, and the president, vice-president and secretary. Air Webby brought up the matter of a new piano and suggested that the committee go into the question during the coming year and discuss the matter at next annual meeting. He further suggested that, as the school used the piano, probably it might be prepared to assist, and also the tennis club. It was decided to carry out Mr Webby’s suggestion, and in the meantime leave the matter in abeyance until next year.

A deputation from the tennis club waited on the meeting to know whether the I-lall Society would forego the dance fixed for June 18, as that date would be most suitable for the tennis club. It was resolved to agree to the suggestion, and, as the music was already engaged for that evening, the tennis club will be holding its annual then.

A r otes of thanks to the officers of the society hr ought, the meeting to a close,

HOUSEHOL.DEE S ’ MEETING

The annual meeting of householders to elect the school committee for the ensuing twelve months is to be held on Monday evening, and it is to be hoped there will be a good attendance of householders present. Members of the old committee appreciate a good meeting, and parents should make a- point of attending. I wonder how many Biverlea householders have been in the school since it was remodelled? Whv not conic on Monday and show your interest in the work of tlie school?
