Charles Nelson, a single man who resided at Dublin Street, Lyttelton, was discovered hanging from a rafter in his cottage on Saturday. . Strange cireumstanges in connection with the case was contained in the evidence given by Dr. Gilmour, who stated that death was not. due to strangulation or broken neck, but probably to syncope caused by the shock of the attempt at suicide. An inquest was opened and adjourned for the purpose of holding a post mortem examination.
