VANCOUVER, April 17
A telegram from Hilo, Hawaii, states that terrific explosions, which continued throughout Friday night, mark a sinister advance by the Manna Loa volcano, which lias been in eruption for several days. The Catholic (Church, with its ..residence, has been buried under twenty feet of lava .in its progress to the sea, which it is expected to reach within thirty hours. Following a. severe earthquake shock, another outbreak appeared near the summit of the mountain. On Friday night, for the first time, crimson lava fountains shot high into the air like geysers. The flow of lava, as it spread fanlike towards the edge of the Pacific, was visible from the opposite side of the island. Great forests and a- large section of the highway have been obliterated.
