NARROW ESCAPE
INCIDENT AT PALMERSTON STATION. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) PALMERSTON N., April 16. The Limited Express, when coming into Palmerston North station on Wednesday evening narrowly escaped colliding with 4 the rear of Field’s express, which was drawn up at the main line.after discharging passengers. As it was, the Limited overran the signal and stopped several car lengths from the rear of Field’s express, the lights on the van of which had warned the Limited driver of his danger.
It is understood that an inquiry will be conducted by the authorities next week into an alleged dereliction of duty on the part of a railway employee .
