A meeting) of ,flie committee appointed- td assist in the, .selection of the agricultural college site, today, carried the following -resolution: “ “That this meeting hopes that the gentlemen responsible for the-iselecition of a site for the proposed- . agricuiiu ral - university will keep’steadily in mind ..the true needs of, and the full meaning of, an agricultural university, and thereby concentrate upon obtaining, regardless of any district influence whatsoever, a site, which will conform with the real needs of the university. This meeting further urges that in view of the problems in the - wheat-growing industry, the -sit© selection committee ( should keep before , it, the fact that the Raugitikei district offers an unlimited scope for experiments, in cereal growing, as it i-s considered to-. be -the . granary of the North Island. , It is further argued that -the dose proximity of -the Rangitikei district to several lands along the Taranaki and Main Trunk lines, which are deteriorating, is a further reason, why the university should be located in that district. r| h-A believes that the land upon- which the university is to bebuilt' and not buildings, will constitute the real' university, jand having in mind the low prices of-sites offered in the Rlangitikei district, urges that every factor mentioned herein should be given most earnest consideration.” The motion is to be presented, to the Government bv Messrs. Glenn, VeLteh and Dickie, M.P.’s.
