DEATH FROM HEART FAILURE
TAIPOROHENUI NATIVE’S END. EVIDENCE AIT THE INQUEST. That death was due to heart failure, traceable to the diseased condition of the heart, was the verdict of the coroner, Mr. J. Si. Barton, S.M., at the inquest held this morning to inquire into the cause of . the death of Rangiahu Pipiraku, a native aged 64 years, who died at Taiporohenui on March 25. Sergeant J. Henry conducted the inquiry. Evidence given by John Corcoran, a farmer of Taiporohenui, and John Oasserley, of Taavhiti, was to the effect that at about 8.30 o’clock on the morning of March 25, Pikirapu, who had been engaged with the witnesses rounding up stock, but was some distance away from them, was noticed lying face downward beside his horse. He had not been thrown, but complained of feeling warm, and when Corcoran approached was struggling to take off his jacket.. While a doctor was being .summoned he partly undressed himself, and died shortly afterwards without speaking again. While he had appear eel to. be in’ excellent spirits and health that morning, lie had previously at times complained of not feeling well. A post mortem examination was conducted' in Hjawera, and it was found that the heart was in a. diseased condition, death being due to natural causes. The coroner, said that medical evidence rendered the cause of death quite clear, .arid found that death was due to heart failure.
