AUSTRALIA’S ADA 7 ANCE GUARD. “NAUSEATING INK-SLINGING. ’ ’ THE CRICKET TESTS. LONDON, April 4. Appalling penswishing from the advance guard of Australian writers prompted George Braun to write a letter lamenting it. “The Australians hitherto,” he says, “arrived without boosting and self-advertisement, and beat us off their own bat. If cricket is to be. turned into a species of circus, why not appoint a master of ceremonies, wife, armed with a megaphone, announces the name, family history and deeds of daring as each of the players steps into the Lords arena. Continuance of this ink,-slinging claptrap nauseates lovers of cricket. They wish the word ‘test’ had never been coined. ’ ’
