PERSONAL ITEMS.
Air T. A. Christensen (Patea) and Air C. Trotter (Opunake) have been re-appointed Government representatives on the Patea and Opunake Harbour Boards respectively. Sir James Parr, Postmaster-General, announces the appointment of Mr A. Gibbs to the position of Chief Telegraph Engineer, which recently became vacant owing to the retirement, on superannuation, of Mr E. A. Shrimpton, ,s-ays a. Wellington Press- Association message. Air A. L. Afontcith, the,new workers’ representative on the Arbitration Court, was welcomed at a sitting in Napier on Saturday, when lie took liis seat for the first time. Air A. W. Croskery, secretary of the New Zealand Federation of Shop Assistants, welcomed Mr Alonteith on behalf of the employees, and Mr B. L. Hammond also extended a welcome from the employers of the Dominion. Air Monteith briefly returned thanks, saying that he would endeavour to carry out his new duties to the best of his ability. * . At a pleasant little function held on Friday afternoon at Mrs W. J. Bright’s home, some of her friends among the ladies of Hawera said good-bye to Miss R. Lockhead, matron of the Hawera Hospital, who will be vacating that position at the middle of next month to take, an extended holiday in the south. Taking advantage of' a -convenient break in the social activities of the afternoon, Airs W. Al. Thomson voiced the ladies’ appreciation of Miss Lockhead’s work at the hospital, and extended very best wishes for her future welfare and happiness, at the same time handing the guest a dainty parting gift.
