HAWERA HIGH SCHOOL.
CADETS’ CAMP. WEEK OF INSTRUCTION. The Hawera. High. School. Cadets (No, 101 Oompapy) went under canvas on the Showgrounds this morning for a week of .instruction. There were approximately TOO cadets in camp, (divided into two platoons under the command of 2nd Lieut. W. W. Thomas and 2nd Lieut. R. H. Heiyard. The morning was spent in pitching camp and training was commenced this afternoon. The personnel of f-lie camp staff was as follows: —Camp Commandant, Major D. T. Bremner, M.C., N.Z. S.C., camp adjutant, Lieut. G. M. MeCaskill, N.Z. S.C.; camp sergeants-major, S.S.ONI. Rowe, N.Z.P.S., and S.S.M. Quayle, N ZP.S.; staff Instructors, S.S.M. Bell, N.Z.P.S., and S.S.M. Stevens, N.Z.P.S. SCHOOL SWIMMING SPORTS. On AVednesday and Thursday afternoons next the Hawera High School boys’ and girls’ swimming sports will be held, the first dav being devoted to the boys’ events, a.nd the second being for the girls. As the cadets training week includes a bathing parade, the defence officers will be especially in tlie sports on Wednesday, it having been arranged that the serve as the parade. Good entries have been received /for all the events, and it is believed that the championships will be keenly contested. : _ An invitation is being extended by the headmaster and staff to all parents, friends and anyone interested to be present at the sports.
