CROSSING ATLANTIC IN TWELVE HOURS.
A PROFESSOR’S FORECAST,

Professor Luring, head of the Potsdam Meteorological Institute, declares that German aviators will soon be enabled to cross the Atlantic in twelve hours by using the storm free regions of the upper air known as “stratosphere.” 1 The altitude is seveu miles, and there, owing to the low density of the air,- it will be possible for powerful eu--gined ’plane's to average 280 miles hourly. The pilot and passengers will have to he housed in a special pneumatic box and constantly supplied with oxygen.
