BIG INCREASE IN SHEEP. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—-COPYBIGQ V. Received 12.20 p.m. to-day. SYDNEY, March 4. The stock branch of the Agriculture Department estimates that the number of livestock in the State on December 31 last was : Horses 502,976 Cattle 2,582,988 Sheep 40,761,504 The returns show a decrease for the year of 21,000 horses and 40,000 cattle, and an increase of nearly 2,000,000 sheep.
