Father Doolaghty, »ansh Driest of the Catholic Church at Palmqrston North lias been removed to Taihape. He was well-known for several years at ° P Mr. ak A. H. Mitchell, of Messrs. Atkins and Mitchell, of Wellington, the architects for the National Bank e new branch building at Hawera, arrived from Wanganui at| 11 a.m. to-day on a visit of inspection of tlie work. He left this afternoon en route to Stratford and New Plymouth. A London cable message announces that Admiral Sir William Pakenham lias retired, and that Vice-Admiral Sir Roger Keyes lias been promoted l admiral. Mr E. Bold, senior land purchase officer of the Publie Works Department, who, for the last twenty years, has been exclusively engaged in the settlement of land compensation claims arising out of the Government’s activities throughout the Dominion, lias been granted extended leave of absence for recuperation, and will leave New, Zealand next month on a visit to the Old Country (telegraphs our Wellington correspondent).
