FINDING OF BODIES

A CORONER’S ADVICE. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) DUNEDIN, March 1. At the inquest on the body of Norman Bay ley, the young man who was found drowned in the Y.M.C.A. baths on Friday, a verdict of accidentally drowned was returned.

The coroner (Mr Bundle, S.M.) remarked that it was a common error that ,if anyone saw a body in the water or hanging, it should be left until the police arrived. That was absolute folly. The coroner was commenting on the fact that when the outline ,of deceased’s body came into view the custodian of the baths had seemingly made no attempt to recover it. It made no difference, however, as the body had been in the water over two hours. But the custodian could not have known for a certainty that it was there all that time.
