PERSONAL ITEMS.
Mr W. K. Wallace, of Auckland, is paying a short visit to Hawera, after having been at the Dunedin Exhibition. He will be here some days, and is busy looking up his many old friends. Advice has been received that at the last meeting of the executive council, Mr Loyal Smith, of New Plymouth, was elected a member of the Junior Institution of Engineers, London. Although the institution,was founded 43 years ago, this is only the twelfth occasion on which a New Zealander has been elected to membership. At the Hawera Rotary Club luncheon to-day advantage was taken of the presence of Mr L. A. Bone to offer him congratulations on the success of his son, Mr D. L. Bone, in his law examinations. Mr Bone thanked members for. their felicitations. His son had worked hard, and he was naturally rdeased' at the success secured.
