MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
TOl-DAY’S SITTING. The following further cases were dealt with : ENTERING A R ACECOURSE. Taneroa Waipahanga was charged with entering on a racecourse contrary to the provisions of the Ganiing Act-. A fine of £3 and 12s costs was imposed.
MOTORISTS CHARGED
John Tutanha was charged with giving a wrong name to the police when asked to produce his motor driver's license. He was fined £2 and £2 15s costs, while on a charge of failing to produce his driver’s license he was convicted and ordered to paj’ the translation fee of s*s.
For riding a motor cycle without a light, W. A. T. Palenshi was fined £1 and 7s court costs
Gyde and Barringer, for whom Mr. H. B. Gib-son appeared, pleaded not guilty to a charge of- driving a- motor car without having received 'til endorsed certificate from the deputy-regis-trar at Hawera. Constable Mull an gave, evidence regarding change of ownership of the car. The defendant company had obtained a registered second-hand car and, without getting the license ndorsed, drove it with a demonstration number attached.
Counsel for the defence admited the facts, but held that under the circumstances they were not required to inquire whether the car was registered or not.
The magistrate held that there was a mino-r breach and fined the defendants Is and 7s court costs.
