CABINET APPOINTMENTS.
NONE TILiL AFTER, MARCH. PRIME MINISTER'S INTENTIONS. (GBy Telegraph—Special to The Star.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 24. “There will be no Ministerial rearrangements until the end of the financial year,” stated the Prime Minister (Rt. Hou.'J. G. Coates) to your correspondent when a question on the subject was put to, him on the appointment of Sir James Parr as High Commissioner.
That Mr. Coates has a considerable amount of readjustment left in his Cabinet construction is evident from the fact that, since the last- announcements, the Minister of Finance (Hon. W. No-s----worthy), who after March will resign that portfolio, has scarcely been in Wellington, and is at present absent, while in other directions there is a “mark-time spirit” evident. It is expected that the Public Works porfolio will be relinquished by Mr. Coates, the most likely placing of this important responsibility being with the Minister of Lands (Hon. A. D. McLeod). • As there will be a shortage of city members in the Ministry after Sir James Parr’s retirement, the chances of Messrs J. S. Diclcson (Parnell) and R. A. Wright (Wellington Suburbs) are hopefully spoken of in political circles.
