SUMMER SHOWERS.

I heard the frog down in the bog Sing: Croak! Croak! Croak! While storm clouds high, Raced up the sky And rumbling thunder broke. I heard the cricket in the thicket Sing: Creak ! Creak ! Creak! Mid thunder loud And tossing cloud I saw the lightning streak. I heard the rain come dropping down, With pitter, pitter, patter. The cricket stopped, The frog song dropped, I thought: “Oh, what’s the matter?” The shower passed. T heard at last Such croaks, creaks, pranks. Of £rogs a million, And crickets a million, All singing back their thanks. —P.O.P.
