BRITISH LIBERALS.
AN APPEAL FOR UNITY. BY CABLE— PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. LONDON, Feb. 17. At the opening session of the Liberal Conference, which was attended by 1500 delegates, the proceedings were marked by the cordial speeches of the Earl of Oxford and Mr Lloyd George, both of whom will remain throughout the congress. The former expressed the opinion that there was an almost complete agreement on principle and aims, though there must be reasonable honest divergence regarding the methods of approach. Mr Lloyd George appealed for the greatest common measure of agreement, and the avoidance of apparent divisions and dissensions, which had weakened Liberalism in‘the past. —Reuter.
