DOMINION SETTLEMENT.
OBJECTS OF ASSOCIATION
TO ENCOURAGE MIGRATION
(.BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 17.
At the first conference of the Dominion Settlement Association it was decided that the association’s objects should include co-operation with the New Zealand Immigration Department in the Homeland and New Zealand, the federation of public bodies interested in migration so as to secure their cooperation in the preparation of schemes for closer settlement of the Dominion and for the assimilation of immigrants into the community, the supplementing and co-ordination of efforts of all societies that have for their object the peopling of the Dominion of those of the British race from within the bounds of Empire. The association ahould act generally in an advisory capacity to constituent organisations, and seek to extend publicity and collect all useful information affecting migration and the possibilities of the Dominion for further settlement. It should alec help in the adoption of sound privately-financed schemes for the establishing of immigrants in New Zealand, to eo-operate with other similar organisations elsewhere in the Empire, and to make such representations as seem necessary to the Government regarding closer land settlement and expansion of industries.
