DUNEDIN EXHIBITION.

MANY EXCURSIONS ARRANGED

(BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) DUNEDIN, Feb 17.

Railway excursion trips from various parts of the South Island to the exhibition are now in full swing, and many special parties will be arriving in the near future. On February 25 one thousand excursionists will arrive from Waimate, representing the bakers’ excursion. On the following day 800 miners from Kaitangata will be due, and on the Saturday a party oi 600 has been organised by the Bal elutlia Retailers’ Association Added to their number will be 500 people from Milton and intermediate stations, and 20 carloads of excursionists from the Blulf. In addition, regular school children’s excursions will be arriving every alternate week from February 22. ‘in i the following numbers: Two thousand from Christchurch, up to 500 from Ashburton, a similar number from Tintaru and proportionate numbers from other towns. Word had also been received from Hokitika, Napier, NVadestown, and Palmerston North that children are coming from those towns. Between 600 and 700 pupils of Palmerston South, Waikouaiti and adjacent schools visited the exhibition to-day, accompanied by their teachers and parents. . The Hon. J. Allan, Premier ot \ ictoria who was entertained yesterday v, itli Sir Mc.vuard Hedstrom. of .Fiji, said the exhibition had put the South Island on the map for Australia. The grand attendance is now 1,617,950.
