CROQUET.

HAWERA CLUB. At a general meeting of the Hawera Croquet Club yesterday, the Campbell Cup Committee reported that for this season, with, the permission of the donors, the cup would be played for in a. doubles tournament, to b e held early in Alarch. The committee hoped that all the smaller clubs in South Taranaki would take part, for there was much that could be ]earnt about tlie rules of croquet at such tournaments. Any of the larger clubs may enter two teams. This lessens the strength of each team somewhat, and makes a fairer game for the smaller clubs who are only able to enter one team. South Taranaki is fortunate in having such a. trophy fo,r competition, for it gives an incentive for much practice. and brings the players of clubs together. After this season the cup is to be played for in a fixture competition with home and home matches.
