KAKARAMEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent). Kakaramea, with the , rest of South Taranaki, is rejoicing in. the -good autumn now being experienced, -e^peeially after the very trying spring. Up till the end of the year the feed was very short and consequently the cows were not producing as they should have been. However, since then there has been a very good recovery and the make at the factory has been very steady, in fact it has increased somewhat in the last six weeks. Feed everyhere is very plentiful now, and prospects are good for the autumn. On Friday night last the Hall Committee gave the first of a series of dances, proceeds of which go to liquidate the small debt on the hall. Although it is rather early in the season for dancing, a goodly number turned up on Friday and spent a very enjoyable evening. Miss Hurley, of Hurleyville, officiated at the piano in her well-known style, and Mr C. Lord acted as M.C., everything going off with a swing. Mr James Fraser, junr., who has been in the Patea Hospital, is home again, and we wish him a. speedy recovery to good health again. The Kakaramea railway crossing is very dangerous at present owing to high hedges obscuring the view oS an approaching train. A few chains of hedges trimmed on either side of the crossing would make it much safer. The Kakaramea Sports and Agricultural Society is to. hold, its annual meeting on Friday next, and all members and intending members nr e cordially invited to be present. The sports meetings so. fa,r have been a great success, and if the residents will take a keen interest, the annual event can be made much more successful. "Will all residents therefore turn up at- the hall on Friday night and give a helping hand?
