A strong wind caused many bush fires in the State to break out afresh, nullifying the strenuous labours <>l hundreds of workers in the affected areas. The most serious renewal was ut Healesville, where the damage has been done tO‘ the water conservation reserve. A new fire occurred in the Whitfield district, and has assumed serious proportions, burning along a fifteen mile trout, it has not yet been got under control. It is reported that the township of Yallourn, where there is situated large generating works of the State Electricity Commission, is in danger, from flames, which is converging on n, from several directions.
