LIMITATION OF ARMAMENTS.
ANOTHER WASHINGTON CONFERENCE. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. WASHINGTON, Feb. 3. It is authoritatively learned that the President (Air Coolidge) is disappointed at the postponement of the disarmament conference at Geneva and has now revived the idea of calling another Washington arms conference. Mr Coolidge gives several reasons for his proposal. He believes that further naval limitation should be handled by the naval Powers concerned, without the representation of small nonnaval States. Secondly, he says, the participation of America, at the Geneva conference would draw the United States into European disputes. Further, Air Coolidge is anxious to combat the agitation for large United States i naval armaments, which will be difficult unless further limitations are agreed to, and he desires to fulfil his 1924 election pledge to assume lehe leadership in the world disarmament. It is expected that Air Coolidge will . extend invitations to the major Powers next summer or autumn for a confer- . ence next winter or spring.
