TRAFFIC RULES.

At a meeting of the Union Executive lield recently in Wellington, it was decided to adopt traffic rules that had been drawn up by the Wanganui Association with a view to promoting better feeling between drovers and motorists. The rules were discussed at a conference held in Wanganui between representatives of the ,-anganui Automobile Association, Wanganui Drovers Association, and New Zealand Farmers’ Union The traffic rules are as below:— That it be regarded by the Automobile Association as an act of discourtesy for a motorist to drive in such i way as to force stock back on to a drover, and that drovers be encouraged to report offenders to the Association. That it. be regarded as an act of discourtesy on the part of any drover to take no action to get stock past a car, and that motorists bo encouraged to report offenders to the Drovers’ Association. That in cases where a block occurs on . bridge or elsewhere due to a car meeting stock, the motorist shall do all within his power to get the stock Jeae past his car, but in eases where cattle are met the motorist shall not leave his car unless he is invited to do so by the drover. That thi' Drovers’ Association recommend members to give every assistance' possible to motors overtakinganil endeavouring to pass through stock, and that co-operation between motorists and drovers in the fullest possible degree be aimed at. That on narrow roads when a ear overtakes stock, the motorist and drover shall co-operate to turn the r.-i of the mol), so that they will run in too opposite direction to that in which the car is travelling, and in such a manner dear a passage for the car. The drover shall not raise any objection to the motorist acting in this manner, and the motorist shall exercise every care to see that no damage is done to the stockthrough which he passes. . That on all bridges stock be given preference by mototiete.
