In order to give junior players the opportunity of playing Avitli and against seniors a competition lias been commenced—for Avhich buttons lurco been donated as a trophy by Mr Rod Syme in which senior and junior players pair ■n doubles matches. The first of these was played between Leece and Douglas nni M. li. Jones and Bod Syme. After a strenuous three-set contest, Jones and SvniP Avon, the scores being 4—6, B—6, and 6—2. These two payers bold the trophy until challenged and: beaten bA T any other senior and junior player. The competition is certain to be very poplar, and to lead to an im-roA-emoni in play, generally.
