HAWERA BOY SCOUTS.
ENTERTAINED BY THE COMMITTEE. AN ESSAY" COMPETITION. The committee of the IlaAvera Boy Scouts entertained’ the boys at the hall last evening, Avlien there Avas a good attendance of scouts, parents and friends. Mr E. Dixon presided. The boys gaA r e a number of interesting demonstrations of bandaging and stretcher work, and- the Dunedin jamboree “haka” Avas gWen Avitli gusto to the amusement of the A-isitors. Mr E. Dixon announced that as Senior Scoutmaster Booth had returned to IlaAvera lie Avouldi be approached with regard to flaking up his former position. This met Avitli the unanimous approA r al of the scouts. Mr A. E. WainAvright offered a trophy for the best comprehensive and interesting essay Avritten by cue of the HaAvera jamboree scouts of his experiences Avhile aAvav. The winning essay would be published in the Star. He hoped that all the boys Avould enter in the competition. All essays Avould require to be received by Monday, February 8. A dainty supper A\-as served by the ladies, for which the scouts showed I heir appreciation.
