Sydney Beer, a young English racehorse owner, achieved the greatest post-war gambling coup at Cannes by winning £55,000 in five days at .baccarat, including £25,000 in a single day. .Boor twice broke the bank. .Fortunes were changing bands every few minutes. It is believed that, a famous Greek syndicate were the chief losers, —A. and N.Z. Assn.
