VANG ANIL v. WA YE RJ.EY. ANNIVERSARY DAY CMJTJNG. The Wanganui Croquet Club eeivfc a, team of their A's to meet- the AYaverley team of A’s at croquet last Friday. The weather was not all that one would have desired, nevertheless the visitors spent a most enjoyable day and proved too strong for Waver ley. The warm welcome from the hostesses and a. most sumptuous luncheon and afternoon tea made up for all deficiency in tiie weather. The results are as follows, AYaverley being mentioned first:-

An enjoyable afternoon was l spent on the Kapongn croquet lawns on Tliurshiy nftci'iioon, when a gathering of apni'oximately 51) members and their friends assembled for a ‘‘golf” croquet tourney. The tourney was organised with the object of securing funds for .Ik; further furnishing of a pavilion, ami very satisfactory results were achieved. Suite interesting play was witnessed in the competition, which was eventually won by Airs -J. Dawson, with a score of 17. though the honours were ciose’y contested- by the runner(Airs A. A'. Tait) with a total of 16.

Added interest to the club’s future activities will be afforded by the announcement that a local supporter has offered to donate two valuable trophies for annual competition, the terms of which, it is -understood, are to be drawn up at a committee meeting in the near future.
