TOURNEY AT NEW PLYMOUTH. INTERESTING PLAY. Under perfect weather conditions and on excellent greens the annual bowling tournament, was opened at Now Plymouth yesterday. The tournament. came of age this year, for it, was the twenty-first hold; under the aegis of the Centre. There were sixy-fonr rinks competing, eight, sections of eight, each, and they play at West End, Abigail own. Fitzrov and. New Plymouth. Two niatehes of 25 heads each will be nlaved eaeh day until Friday, when nest section play will commence. Then three matches of 21 heads will be nlayed. The general arrangements were made and are controlled bv a committee, with Air F. J. Fill, secretary of the Centre, ns seerctnrv for the tourney. Play was keen and interesting throughout. AT STRATFORD. In a match for the Feathers trophy (pairs), the challengers, McElroy and Knewstubb, beat the. holders, Ho watt and Curteis, by 21 to 16. KAPONGA v. ELTHAM.
