The League of Nations lias been requested by the passports sub-committee to convene a conference to- discuss the sub-committee’s agenda, including the best means of achieving or hastening the abolition of the passport regime. Meantime it recommends a minimum
valdity for two years, but, if possible, for five years, also the abolition of transit- and entrance visa«s and better organisation for the examination of passno its at. frontiers.
An annexe to the report suggests the issue of an identity book, <»ither gratis or at a nominal charge, to migrants in place of a passport.
