WELL-KNOWN PLAYERS TAKE PART. BY CABLE-PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGfIT. (Received 1 Jan. 26, 10.12 a.m.) LONDON, Jan., 25. Hobbs, replying to an invitation to read the lesson at the sportsmen’s service at St. Mark’s Church, Mitehau, said: “1 would rather face the Australian bowling for three weeks than read a lesson in church.” Instead Hobbs took up the collection. Knight, the Surrey cricketer, read’ the lesson, and the *Rev. Mr Roberts, a popular Rugby referee, conducted the servee. The 'Bishop of Woolwich was the preacher.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
