DISTRICT STOCK SALES. The Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand reports hs under: — 'l’ho stork market, has been a stea .y uin‘ throughout the. district the past week, and has been a fairly busy one. Breeding ewes and iambs have constituted the 5 bulk of the stock changing hands at prices well behind the rates of last year, but nevertheless quite satisfactory to vendors, who could welcome a good stable market somewhere near the present day prices. Good rap-i iambs are eagerly competed for, due to the recent rains and graziers getting away better iinal drafts off the ewes than they expected. Yardiugs up to the present have not been very heavy, haymaking preventing vendors from getting their stock to the markets. Very good clearances at auction have been the general rule, ciuotntions at the different vardings being as follows: At Kakaramea on Monday, the loth inst., we had a very small yarding and total clearance. Heavy bulls £5 las f.., £(>, lighter to £3 las, boner cows lids to £1 .18s.

At Okaiava on Tuesday, the ltd u inst.. we had a full yarding and practically a total clearance under the hammer. WESTFIELD SALE. (by TK.I,KG It A I*ll mtKSS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 21. At tits Westfield sale there was a smaller yarding and in consequence values improved, especially for wellfinished cattle. Eixtra choice and prime ox made 34s per 1001 b ; choice and prune 28s to 31s ; ordinary and plain, 25s to 27 s : prime young cow and heifer beef. .Is to 295; ordinary, 21s to 235; rottg. iOs to 20s. Sheep made a fair yarding, there being little or no change in values. Heavy prime wethers made £1 10s 6d, medium 2Ss to 29s 6d ; .small and lintir.ished, 23s to 26s ; best heavy prime ewes, 22s 6d; medium, 21s; light and unfinished, 17s to £l. Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd., are in receipt of the following wool market cablegram from their London agents dated 20th instant: Improved competition; principal buyers Yorkshire. Crossbred greasy fine and medium market shows no change; coarse market shows a hardening tendency. Crossbred scoured market shows no material change; crossbred slipe par to 5 per cent decline. LONDON MARKET QUOTATIONS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., reports having received the following cablegram from its London house under date 20th instant: Tallow.—We quote c.i.f. and e. values for the following descriptions: Fine mutton 45s per cwt, good beef 435, mixed 41s 6d. Our quotations are more or less nominal. Dairy Produce.—Butter: New Zealand choicest 174 s to 176 s per cwt; market quiet. Cheese: White 102 s per cwt. coloured 106 s; market firm.
