The Abolition -Bill was before the Council for the second reading, and evoked a crowded Chamber, but One member the Government was relyi on for support was absent, and another member of the Government an nounced his intention of voting against the remaining stages of the measure, which received so much hostility. The Government moved and carried a motion for an adjournment until next Wednesday.
