FIT RTHER INCH EASES. Latest advices from Home give more particulars of the firming of quotations in market rates for raisins, dates and walnuts. The following details of tliv position will be .read with interest: A general firming up of the different varieties of American raisins and suitanas has been in evidence during the last couple of months. Sellers now advise the receipt of cables since the _New Year which, in comparison to the previous indent rates ruling, show further increases. Thompson’s seedless, in bulk twenty-fives and fifties, acre up Is (id |>er ewt. Oil dipped seedless have advanced 2s per cwt. Considering the firm state of the indent market in London for iSiars. Khedrawi and loose pack, merchants’ selling rates may be considered to be very .satisfactory". The market in London has made two or three smal' rises since prices were named at the beginning of the season, and cables received during the last few days advise a further increase of 6d per cwt. in all grades. Stocks arrived during December. and are considered to fdl present requirements, but if the oversea quotations show anv increase on the last rates named, retailers may expect an ear'y revision in merchants’ selling rates. A late revision in quotations for French grades shows that indent rates for walnuts in shell have declined 5s ner cwt. owing to an easing oft' in demand. Halves are moving into consumption a little more rapidly, and, in consequence of the sustained demand, indent rates have shown increases of l()s per cwt.
