iS'AiLY ATI ON' ARMY. WELCOME TO NEW OFFICER. (From Our Own Correspondent.) T'liere was a large- number ol membeis of the Salvation, Army and adherants present- at the reception to the newly appointed olficer of the coups, held "in the Salvation Army Hall lastevening. Ser-gt.-Alajoc S. Jenkins presided, and on behalf of the corps extended to Gla-pt. and Mrs. Norman, from Woodville, a very -sincere welcome. The Mayor, Mr. Ira J. Uridger, was also present and extended to the new officers, on behalf of the citizens, a welcome to Eiitliam and good wishes for their work here. He said that the Army’s work was well-known by the people of Eltliam and all admired it. Hie following, representing the various sections, also spoke and assured Cap-t. -and M-r-s. Norman the hearty cooperation of the departments under tneir charge:—Bandmaster Lynch, Mehrtens, Y.P.S.M. Olougli, and Mrs. Fantha-m. The meeting was of a happy character and was interspersed with songs, solos, and bright choruses. Cap t. Fantha-m, representing the Boys Home, also -spoite and assured the new officers of the heaity co-opera-tion pf the officer of the Hoys’ Home. Uapt. Nor,man, on rising to speak, was heartily greeted. He dealt with the work of the Army and the need for increased activity. Hie- said that he was there to do liis best to bring progress to the focal corps. He thanked the various speakers for their sincere welcome. He appreciated the assurance of co-operation, without which it was impossible to- have the- measure of which lie was sure all 'desired. He thanked -the Mayor for -liis welcome on 'behalf of the citizens of the town. He said that he would do liis best to assist all who needed a helping hand and a word of cheer.
