Th e annual meeting of the Foxton Racing Club, which takes place to-mor-row and Saturday, lias drawn good acceptances. Although overshadowed by the more important meeting of the Wellington Racing Club, the Foxton gathering is quite an enjoyable outing. Considering the strength of the opposition. Axle is not badly treated in the Hack Hurdles at Foxton to-mor-row. Suspicion, which won at Hastings recently, may prove most troublesome.

First Acre is engaged at the Wellington meeting, hut if that engagement is abandoned and h e is started in the Himitangi Handicap at Foxton, lie should be a good favourite. In his absence Empire Camp should run well in that event. Butterscotch is at the top of the handicap tor the Awahou Hack, but on recent iorm is well handicapped, and should prove hard to beat. Anchor and A nolo are both well, and may be capable ol making a good contest. As the class is weak, Banogne at 9 stone is nicely handicapped for the Anniversary Handicap; but- Birkie, at 3 ston e and Awapuni form as a recommendation reads better. Although Quillfire failed to win at the Taranaki Christmas meeting, he showed by his forward running that he is coining right again, so, under the circumstances, lie may be one of the fancied for the Marotiri Hack to-mor-row at Foxton. Class is not a strong feature of the Foxton Cup, as shown by Tall Timber heading the handicap. On recent running Opa is much improved, and a continuance of the form will make Ona uard to dispose of in the Foxton Cup. Possibly the well-seasoned Tall Timber a ill also race well.

T.-iere is nothing outstanding amongst those nominated for the Novice Stakes, but at different times some cf them have shown pace. Ratapoto at his best « would cause trouble. whjl e Pardon and *' >. arriglen both ran fair races at Wood- " vil e in December. ■, None of the horses engaged in the Herrington Welter, to be run at Foxton to-morrow, have shown recent form. Ethonin looked veil when rae'ug during the holidays, and may repay bis owner for past failures. At the time of writing there appears 1 an excellent chance of that proud ve ding, The Banker, going to Austra■ia Strong as the stud farms of Australia are. buyers from across the Tasman take advantage of securing any - ood performers racing in this Dominion. And the nrieg does not seem to lie any bar either.
