An international organisation to combat the teaching of the theory of evolution in schools has been founded in Atlanta. Air Edward Young Clarke, formerly “imperial wizard” of the Klu Klux Ivlan, will direct the organisation, which as yet lias not been named. Mr. Olarke said lie expected that by August bureaus will he established in England, Australia, and Canada, all under the jurisdiction of the Atlanta association. The movement was neither sponsored nor endorsed .by the Klan. Mr Olarke said: “We are formulating plans, which will be definitely announced shortly. They will include the banishment from every grammar high school and university in the world of any teacher who expounds the ]>.: winian theory. Mr Clarke’s followers decried the rapid drift of the masses away from the old-time religion and all lauded the memory of Mr. Bryan. The erection of headquarters costing 500,000,000 dollars at Atlanta and the installation of a powerful radio station for the dissemination of their ideas are contemplated.
