HOCKEY.
The Indian hockey authorities wrote last week asking for a reduction of the time in the proposed tour of the Dominion this year, stating that if agreed to they would he prepared to play three matches a fortnight. The visitors evidently intended to treat hockey as of secondary interest, hut the New Zealand Association had other views, as the itinerary mapped allowed for two matches every week, and the Indian authorities have been notified that any reduction in the length of the tour would entail extra expense on those associations securing a match, and that the original time would necessarily have to be adhered to.
