MENACED BY LANDSLIDE. PREVENTIVE WORKS FAIL. ITS PROGRESS UNCHECKED. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT (Received Jan. 7, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 6. The Geneva correspondent of The Times states that the village of Schimberg, near Lucerne, is seriously menaced as the result of a landslide involving the surface of 74 acres, and containing fields and orchards which are rapidly descending on the village despite all preventive measures. Large crevasses have appeared at a distance of 150 yards from the first houses. — Times.
